OHHI National Advisory Panel

Pursuant to the OHH Act of 2004, NOAA established a National Advisory Panel (AP) to assist in the development and implementation of the OHHI. The 15 member AP has expertise ranging fro m marine microbiology to marine mammals, epidemiology to ecology, and oceanography to outreach.

After a formal call for nominations, (70 Fed. Reg. 53,779 Sept. 12, 2005) and extensive internal NOAA review, the NOAA Assistant Administrator for Oceans and Coast appointed this 15 member panel which is comprised of academia, two partner agencies, and the private sector. Members serve a three year term, renewable once. Darrell J ay Grimes, Ph.D. serves as the AP Chair, and Tony MacDonald serves as the Vice-Chair.

The purpose of the OHHI AP is to advise NOAA regarding:

  (2) Preparation and periodic updating of a NOAA OHHI Strategic Plan;

  (3) Communication, coordination and integration of OHHI activities with other programs and partners, including but not limited to the NSF/NIEHS OHH Centers, the IWG-4H, academic and medical communities, and state environmental, health and natural resource agencies;
