120: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Sun 09-Jun-2002 17:41:03 GMT, reboot maprlab at 17:11
Rebooted maprlab at approx 17:11z

109: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Fri 07-Jun-2002 23:20:38 GMT, install UPS for the computer of wireless comm., reboot maprlab
Put a UPS for the computer dealing the wireless communication. After
that the ISS (maprlab) and MAPR have to be reboot in order to make
the network work.

101: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Wed 05-Jun-2002 18:59:55 GMT, update Aspen at about 19z
Charlie talked me through on the phone to update Aspen at about 19z. And
run the latest sounding 17:39z, June 5 using the new Aspen.

97: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Wed 05-Jun-2002 16:20:27 GMT, network and maprlab were down probably caused by lighting
the network and maprlab were down probably caused by the lightening.
Charlie helped Dotto to restart the computers in the afternoon about 23z.

87: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Mon 03-Jun-2002 20:50:09 GMT, replace GLOW's fiber cable at 2020UTC
GLOW found their fiber cable was broken and replaced it in today's afternoon.
The old broken cable is still hanging there and labeled "GLOW broken".

81: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Mon 03-Jun-2002 16:54:01 GMT, reinstall RS80 on glass
update the RS80 folder in GLASS, it is expected to fix the coefficient
reading problem. I also made a backup of labview 2.31 on Lou's zip disk.

And Yes, the new RS80 is working flawlessly.

75: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Sun 02-Jun-2002 16:51:13 GMT, copy the coefficient file of case 1 to glass computer
I made a copy of coefficient file of case 1 on glass computer under
"my document", called coef_backup_case1. In case the original floppy
disc has a problem.

68: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Fri 31-May-2002 21:55:40 GMT, Reinstall the glass
Lou came in today (May 31) to reinstall the new labview in order to fix
the coefficient problem. However, the new software still has the same problem.
It worked after coefficient reading failed twice.
15: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Tue 14-May-2002 22:43:11 GMT, ZEBRA time line rescaling
I think the option to change the time span is not enabled in ZEBRA. It was originally done using the right mouse button I believe and I can't seem to find it currently. It needs to be reinabled or I need to be shown how to use it.
12: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Tue 14-May-2002 16:59:32 GMT, linus access
maprlab user iss can ssh to linus directly: ssh linus

mapr user mapr can ssf to linus as: ssh iss@linus

11: SOFTWARE, Site , Tue 14-May-2002 15:32:04 GMT, backups
Backed up parts of maprlab and mapr to /jetstor/backups:

maprlab: ~iss/iss

mapr: ~mapr, excluding:
mapr/vmware
mapr/packages
mapr/nima
mapr/mapr-ce
mapr/mapr-mf

9: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Tue 14-May-2002 00:49:38 GMT, IDL hostid
the hostid on mapr just decided to change itself in
the middle of the day, without any prompting. Bill says
that Gary say this behavior on maprlab, during Reno.

I discoverd a little C program on maprlab, sethostid.c,
which can be used to set the hostid. Maprlab's /etc/rc.local
was trying to run it, but failing because it was not found in
/etc. I copied the executable to /etc, and so it runs
at boot time.

I copied the program to mapr, and ran it
there once, however at the momment I haven't
set it up to run automatically. If we see the problem
again, we'll add it to the bootup sequence.

8: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Tue 14-May-2002 00:38:00 GMT, Network configuration
We are now setup to use either the UMass/SPOL network or the
OfficeConnect/PTSI network.

To switch between them, first power down all of the
computers (iss2class, maprlab, sodar and mapr).

Connect the network of choice into the "Uplink" port
of the D-Link DSS-8+ switch. This will either be the
twisted pair cable from the UMass/Netgear 8 port switch,
or the cable from the 3Com/OfficeConnect box.

Reboot the computers. It is best to get maprlab running
first, since it exports disks and runs samba.

DHCP on both UMass and OfficeConnect is configured
as follows, serving out fixed IP addresses:

network: 192.168.5.0
mapr 192.168.5.1
maprlab 192.168.5.2
iss2class 192.168.5.3
sodar 192.168.5.4

NOTE that the OfficeConnect is configured
as 192.168.5.10; you willhave to use that
address in your browser. http://3com.oc.lanmodem
should work also.

I think the reset button on the OfficeConnect
can be used to reset it to factory defaults,
which would restore its IP to its standard 192.168.1.1.
We will want to do this at the end of the project,
so that Gordon doesn't become totlly frustrated
trying to access the box months from now.

These IP addresses have been put into
maprlab:/iss/etc/hosts, mapr:/etc/hosts,
and iss2class:windows/hosts

5: SOFTWARE, Site IHOP, Sun 12-May-2002 17:43:42 GMT, Mods to ISS software for Liunx operation
init.d/datasend:
- change class platform file pattern from cdf to nc

- changed ping paramters for timing out; solaris version
continues to ping fo 180 counts.

- changed /bin/test reference to /usr/bin/test

init.d/archive:
- changed /bin/test reference to /usr/bin/test
- added migrate commands for /data/sodar/data and
/data/sodar/rawdata.

init.d/init.iss:
- added sodar module startup
- removed soap startup and shutdown.

init.d/sodar:
- added

init.d/display:
- added xterm -C to provide console output for Campbell

init.d/ingest:
- fixed exec command for ingest scheduler; redirecting output
to $console. The conditional
- moved the sleep command out of the subshell that invokes
"surface start". Maybe I can move this back in, as a fixed sleep
rather than the variable. All I know is that having the variable call
in there stoped cam_ingest from running; moving it out fixed it. Will have
to look further at this.

init.d/root.iss:
diabled network, jazdevice, autofs and dtlogin startup.

/etc/rc5.d:
added S99zISS and K99zISS links to root.iss. NOTE that level 5 is the
default runlevel on maprlab.
