172: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Sat 03-Mar-2001 16:21:51 GMT, Surface data failure
03 Mar 16:15 Z (09:15 LT) Solar sensors are clear of frost this morning.

Sureface data stopped working at about 16:45Z (11:45 LT). Havn't worked on
fixing it because of visitors and end of project. We should diagnose
before teardown.

165: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Fri 02-Mar-2001 16:03:46 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
02 Mar 15:55 Z (08:55 LT) defrosted solar sensors. Incoming visible was
frosted.

158: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Thu 01-Mar-2001 16:02:27 GMT, Temperature sensor anomaly?
I have noticed that the surface met is consistently 1-2 C colder than
the sonde in the aspirator.

157: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Thu 01-Mar-2001 16:01:55 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
01 Mar 16:00 Z (09:00 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. All upward viewing domes were covered with powder. Will probably become covered again soon.

149: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Thu 01-Mar-2001 01:23:06 GMT, Brief surface met outage Mar 01 00:05-00:40 Z (1705-1740 LT)
01 Mar: Surface met data missing from about 00:05 to 00:40 Z (1705-1740 LT on
28 Feb). This was because of a reboot (needed to clear the modem).

138: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Tue 27-Feb-2001 15:20:51 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
27 Feb 15:06 Z (08:06 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. All upward viewing domes were covered with powder.

128: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Sun 25-Feb-2001 17:15:44 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
25 Feb 16:55 Z (09:55 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. All upward viewing domes were covered with powder.

118: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Sat 24-Feb-2001 16:21:34 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
24 Feb 16:17 Z (09:17 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. All upward viewing domes were covered with powder.

109: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Thu 22-Feb-2001 16:15:58 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
22 Feb 16:15 Z (09:15 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. All upward viewing domes were encrusted with snow.

Plots show increase in incoming solar, decrease in IR. Net decrease.
There was also an increase in IR (and net) at 15:45. Don't know why.

102: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Wed 21-Feb-2001 16:35:47 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
21 Feb 16:30 Z (09:30 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. All upward viewing domes were encrusted with snow.

Plots show large increase in incoming solar (and netrad)

94: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Tue 20-Feb-2001 17:28:41 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
20 Feb 17:00 Z (10:00 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer.

80: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Mon 19-Feb-2001 01:01:48 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
18 Feb 17:45 Z (10:45 LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer. Just a little frost this morning. Remained clear all day.

69: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Tue 13-Feb-2001 20:55:17 GMT, Surface sens - snow & solar
13 Feb 2045

Topped up snow guages with oil and anti-freeze
Reset them by unplugging and replugging - both beeped as they should.

Leveled solar sensors - they had tilted again towards the south (about 10 deg).

9 Feb 16:15UT (9:15LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer

26: SURFACE, Site , Wed 07-Feb-2001 15:58:22 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors
7 Feb 15:30UT (8:30LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer
  (1/2" snow overnight that froze)

22: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Tue 06-Feb-2001 18:11:56 GMT, changed the pressure sensor to a 1060 to 600 sensor calibrated for Steamboat
changed sensor, dld files and moved the old ones to old_3. Leaving
the other one here as a spare.
20: SURFACE, Site , Tue 06-Feb-2001 16:55:45 GMT, Defrosted solar sensors temp/rh
6 Feb 16:40UT (9:40LT) defrosted solar sensors with hair-dryer
      17:10UT (10:05LT) defrosted temp/RH

15: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Mon 05-Feb-2001 17:33:49 GMT, Hum Sensor
Lou found an error in the RH sensor poly fit coefs. Change the
coefs to new and started the ISS. New RH measurements starting
now, old files copied into old_snowfall_dld_files2. The change
isn't a huge number in the overall measurement, I think.
12: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Sun 04-Feb-2001 18:28:05 GMT, Installed Pressure Sensor Feb 3, Sat
Installed the new pressure sensor in the tower.
Checked the campbell program and noted the change
in the dld file. Pressure came up as 800mb. Same
as w/o sensor. Noted this morning that the pressures
are changing now. Last 2 sondes read a couple of
mb below sensor (802 vs. 805 or 796 vs. 800). Will
have to watch to make sure of consistent difference.

copied the new campbell snow1.* files into the campbell directory
and made a new directory for the old files under
the campbell directory.

Kept a copy of the new snow1.* campbell files on the
glass pc.

3: SURFACE, Site Steamboat, Sat 03-Feb-2001 01:48:24 GMT, Moved the Solar Sensor Stand
Because of a lighting tower shadowing the solar sensor
in the late afternoon the sensors were moved to the south
on the top of a large snow bank. This happened approx 4-5
pm local steamboat time.

The snowbank was flatended around the base of the solar
tower so snow will appear on the flat surface.
