55: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Sat 29-Apr-2006 00:02:26 GMT, Profiler to 60m mode
Set ISS2 profiler into 60 meter mode for the EOPs tonight and tomorrow. 0UT.

53: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Thu 27-Apr-2006 01:26:41 GMT, Profilier stalled
ISS2 wind profiler stalled at 0UT.
POP was showing the text of the wind consensus and had just turned on RASS.
RASS was emitting sound, but POP had stalled.
It is not obivous why the stall occurred.
Checking crontab on data manager, there isn't shouldn't be a spectral file
transfer at that time, just the usual consensus file transfer.

Note reverse flow, easterlies aloft, westerlies near ground (possible rotor)
22 UT (Apr 26) for a couple of hours.

51: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Tue 25-Apr-2006 16:23:56 GMT, Profiler locked up
From approx 23:00 on the 24 to 15:55 on the 25th the radar was hung in rass mode. The pop program was shut down and restarted. The system was observed for two rass cycles during which time everything appeared to work correctly
50: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Sat 22-Apr-2006 20:38:23 GMT, Profile low high
Took POP to setup screen (demonstrating for Jason).
Did not change modes, still in 100m mode, however on the next consensus
the data manager ingest put the 100m winds back in prof915l (low mode)
instead of prof915h as it had been doing since the last EOP.
It's not clear why this happened, but the data is still being recorded okay
so it isn't a problem.

49: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Thu 20-Apr-2006 21:24:24 GMT, Profiler PC restart
Restarted profiler computer (training for Jason).

46: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Thu 20-Apr-2006 21:09:25 GMT, Profiler to 100m mode
Switched profiler from 60 m mode to 100m mode for tomorrow's IOP.
The velociy aliasing is also a little wider (17 m/s).

45: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Wed 19-Apr-2006 01:55:19 GMT, Profiler stalled
The POP process on the profiler PC stalled at the end of the
23:30UT connsensus. The display on the PC was the wind profile plot.

It's not clear what caused the stall which occurred about 40 minutes
after we left the site. No error messages.

Wasn't responsing to keystrokes, however did respond to crtl-alt-del,
which put me back in the WinXP screen. Rebooted to clear reset the PC.
Running okay from about 1:55 UT.

42: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Tue 18-Apr-2006 22:41:48 GMT, Profiler to 60m mode
Switched profiler to 60 meter mode for tonight's EOP.
Similar settings to MISS (although slight differences in IPP
to reduce RFI).

Reduced delay to 1800 ns to lower first gate to 120 meters.
Produces slight spurs in spectra, but should be okay in post-processing.

Widened RASS to -10 to 30C as it may get hot tomorrow.

39: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Sun 16-Apr-2006 16:56:34 GMT, Backup profiler data
Backed up the profiler SPC files to DVD.

Raw data backup too big for one disk so just backed up SPC files using

growisofs -R -J -Z /dev/hdc /data/ds/spc

SPC files from D06045 to H06106 3.8 GB

35: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Mon 03-Apr-2006 05:37:52 GMT, POP program hung - rebooted profiler PC
All radar data stopped flowing at 3 April 00z. The profiler PC screen was
stuck on the green consensus summary profile plot. It did not respond to
any keys. I hit Alt-ESC to return to the Windows desktop. When I tried to
reboot, Windows said the POP cmd.exe session would not terminate. I forced
a reboot anyway.

On restart the K: drive did not work, but this has been a recurring problem
at this site. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the K: drive, but it
still did not reconnect at startup like it should. I had to open the K:
drive shortcut and enter the password for the K: connection to work, before
the POP program started.

It appears to be working now; I'll check that the consensus makes it across
when I return to mapr.

30: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Sat 25-Mar-2006 21:09:23 GMT, data qc issue
profiler appears to be getting good signal up to 6 km, not clear
why some much data is being removed by qc for online quicklooks
and issgp1

26: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Sat 18-Mar-2006 01:12:18 GMT, brief profiler stoppage
stopped pop to copy files from yesterday at 0110 UTC.

started it back up and everything seems to be fine - (i.e., latest
data can be viewed with the data manager computer.)

25: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Fri 17-Mar-2006 20:05:02 GMT, Profiler back on line ~20 UTC 17 March
concensus winds came across to the data manager and look good
nice profile up to 2500 m
23: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Fri 17-Mar-2006 19:45:03 GMT, profiler down time
The profiler/rass has been down since 4 PM yesterday.
It appearantly hung up at 2359 UTC March 16th during a
consensus wind calculation as the x-y plots of
wind speed and direction were still displayed on the
profiler computer screen.

As per B. Brown's direction:

The profiler software was killed and the computer was restarted.

However, on restart the link between the data manager and profiler computer
was not automatically established, so we had to manually log into the k
drive (on datamanager).

No data was collected between 00 UTC and 1930 UTC. This was checked
before restarting the profiler software.
13: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Fri 03-Mar-2006 23:15:48 GMT, RFI
RFI.

There is a little intermittant radio interfence on the north beam.
It is about 1 dB on the spectra, and does not appear to be causing
wind problems at this time.
It might be due to the sodar-RASS.
11: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Thu 02-Mar-2006 01:06:10 GMT, Parameter change
Small change to parameters to match MISS

Reduced Coh Avg slightly to widen velocity aliasing. 0:50 UT.

K Drive was disconnected for about an hour after generator service
(see previous message).

9: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Tue 28-Feb-2006 22:38:39 GMT, Profiler parameters and k drive
Profiler parameters and K Drive

Profiler paraameters: some velocity folding (eg around 21:20UT) so
adjusted parameters so that velocity aliasing is now 15 m/s.
Also increased hgts to 6km.

A little occasional RFI (eg at 21:20).
The surface group may be using data links at 900MHz that may
be causing some of the RFI.

K Drive. Some problems with K drive not automatically connecting after
boot. Gary rebooted prof PC several times trying to fix.
For now we need to manually connect the drive after each boot.

Gary also did work on network timer client on prof PC.

8: RADAR, Site ISS2 Onion Road, Sun 26-Feb-2006 23:34:27 GMT, Profiler directions fixed
Brisk southerlies all day - seen by MAPR and MISS,
but ISS2 180 degrees out.
Actually 175 deg out after compass recalibrated.
Fixed 23 UT.

Also altered beam sequence to N, E, S, W.
