Calibration Methods: Fundamental absorption measurement
History of Significant Changes to the Instrument:
Description of Software, Data Handling, and Data Flow:
Software Components (data acquisition, display, processing, and analysis): Data acquisition software is written in Quick Basic. Source code is in hand. Display software by PSI is in hand for RT monitoring of the instrument in flight. Serial output of the instrument engineering data can be easily modified to be made suitable for ingestion into the ADS sstem and distribution through AEROS.
Data Processing Chain (from flight to archival): Frequencies for the two channels are logged on a CF card in flight. Data are transferred onto a ground station after flight manually for processing . For 1 s data, certain assumptions on light stability and extrapolation of data are required. Processing with de-spiking is provided in PSI "black box" software. Snippets of mixing ratio calculation code are in hand. Proffitt Instruments has an entire processing and housekeeping QC package in IGOR Pro at (significant) cost.
QA Procedures and Needs: None.
Safety Issues: In the current design there is a high voltage interconnect cable between the two instrument modules. Completely safe unless disconnected while hot; even then, special effort is required to get shocked on the female cable connectors.
