Full Name: Heimann KT19 Infrared Radiation Pyrometer
Short Name or Acronym: KT19
Model if applicable: KT19.85
Measurements Provided: Remote surface temperature
Manufacturer or Builder of the Instrument: Wintronics
When Acquired: 1994 (S/N 305, 756, 757, 93, 894), 1991 (S/N 305)
Operational Status: requestable, but has problems, needs work before deployment
requestable, but has problems, needs work before deployment
General Description:
Measurement Characteristics:
Calibration Methods: Calibrated in-house using the Eplab blackbody target over a range of temperatures from 1-40 degrees C
History of Significant Changes to the Instrument: Formerly temperature controlled for C-130 installations.
Description of Software, Data Handling, and Data Flow:
Software Components (data acquisition, display, processing, and analysis): NIDAS, Aeros, Nimbus
Data Processing Chain (from flight to archival): Calibrations applied in Nimbus. Post-project correction for contamination by atmospheric water vapor emission performed in special processing by request. Data follow the standard RAF path: Sampling and recording by the airborne data system NIDAS, post-flight processing by 'nimbus' and archiving along with other measurements in netCDF-format files. For more information on data handling, see this page: StandardDataPath.
QA Procedures and Needs: Review for effects of sensor temperature fluctuations. Radiative transfer modeling for atmospheric water vapor corrections
Safety Issues: none
