RF13 - 3 December 2003 The C-130 completed a very interesting flight today over Georgian Bay. There were 2 main layers of cloud, both very cold (-18 and -23 deg, I think), with large amounts of water. The lower level had consistently 0.2-0.3 g/m3, and icing was encountered. Very few large drizzle drops, but the CPI saw many smaller drops. The lower deck was probably lake affected, whereas the upper one was "prairie air", which rose up over the lower deck in a meso-scale field. The upper deck was more thin and wispy, but very interesting as we may have caught the "birth of an icing incident", as John Hallett expressed it. - Jorgen
