RF10 -- 

The C-130 conducted a pre-frontal and frontal study during high wind
conditions on RF10, Monday 24 November.  The pre-frontal flight including
flying in a very strong, low-level jet (25 m/s at 2000 ft) with considerable
mechanical turbulence.  Excellent nuclei mesurements were made here, as
well as cloud observations on the return flight westwards through 1-2 strong
pre-frontal bands and frontal clouds, including post-frontal stratocumulus.
Considerable aircraft icing was observed.
