NOTES

Weather

-        Stratiform convective region targeted with coordinated balloon operations

-        North-south line 20 west of Norman extending from Chickasha to El Reno

-        Flew northbound at 12,000 MSL to be right at the freezing level

-        Flew southbound at 14,000 MSL

-        Flew northbound at 16,000 MSL

-        Mostly smooth with occasional light turbulence

-        Three flashes noted

-        1/3 inch of ice accumulated at 16,000 MSL

-        Moderate precipitation and lower visibility at Norman forced a landing at Page Muni (F29)

-        Ferried aircraft back once weather cleared at Norman

Maintenance

-        Cylinder head temperatures ran at 150 C with cowl flaps closed

-        Decrease to just above 100 C during descent with 2400 RPM and 23 inches MP

Operations

-        Occasionally p-static prevented communications with ops

-        Ops keep me informed on precipitation intensity at Norman and Will Rodgers

-        Initial intended to land at Will Rodgers, but broke out of the west side of the precipitation and saw that Page Muni was clear

-        Added 60 gallons of fuel at Page and returned to Norman in about an hour
