US CLIVAR SSC RECOMMENDATIONS:NAME PROJECT STRUCTURE

SCIENTIFIC:

·  LAND SURFACE - Enhanced land surface observations and modeling should be high-priority aspects of the program (including land data assimilation work).

• 
  ·  OTHER MONSOONS - NAME should improve coordination with other ongoing monsoon studies (e.g. MESA, AA Monsoon, CEOP, etc)
• 
  ·  MODELING – Given NAME’s focus on deep convection in complex terrain, the regional modeling effort should include cloud-scale modeling efforts.
  
  ·   OCEAN PROCESSES – NAME should place more emphasis on the gathering of relevant marine data (important for monsoon modeling and interpretation of continental observations).
