NAME RAINGAUGE NETWORK DESIGN (OBJECTIVES)
To improve estimates of the diurnal cycle and topographic variation of precipitation in the core region of the NAM.
To facilitate hydrologically relevant diagnostic studies, including
- intensity-duration-frequency analyses
- rainfall accumulation spatial structure
- spatial structure of mean rainfall
To facilitate modeling studies that use the new data to investigate, validate and improve the parameterization of precipitation processes in models.
