Overall goal
The Plata Basin, a major contributor to global food
production, has been experiencing intense and widespread land use
changes in the last three decades. This project quantifies these
changes, explores their dynamics and causes, and analyzes their main
consequences on nature (e.g carbon and water cycling) and society (e.g.
employment, rural migration, food production). In the team, people from
thirteen institutions and five countries merges complementary
capacities to advance global change science, generate management and
adaptation tools, and promote scientific capacity building in the
region.
