Please review the general information in the Bulletin: Freight Shipping and Hand-Carried Equipment. This bulletin contains specific information regarding dimensions and weight, packing, transport dates for cargo and recommendations for hand carried equipment.

Interconex will handle all pickups, customs formalities for export/import at the time of shippings, and deliver each shipment to the appropriate airline or shipline for transport to the final destination. This will be done in reverse order for the inbound shipment back to its origin (or other designated location). To take advantage of lower rates, shipments from several facilities to the same destination may be consolidated by Interconex. All shipments must be clearly marked as follows:

FROM:

TO:

Contact Ms. Lask or Ms. Chu immediately if you plan to ship any dangerous goods (corrosive, poisonous, etc.) or gases (< http://www.finnair.com/cargo/dangerous_goods.htm>. Transit time may be lengthened for shipments of this type because they must be approved by airlines and/or shiplines. Regulations and/or limitations for transport of dangerous goods (DG) may affect packing or routing. Airlines permit a limited quantity of DG per flight; however, certain flights are totally prohibited from carrying them. Mae can advise you of airline restrictions on shipments of DG, based on compatibility of equipment and gases/chemicals. Please provide the UN number and/or the Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the DG you intend to ship. MSDSs can be obtained on the web site <http://www.siri.org/msds/>.

NOTE:  Whenever possible, it is advisable to purchase DGs at the field site, thus avoiding international shipping.

1. DIMENSIONS OF INDIVIDUAL PIECES

NOTE:  Contact Ms. Lask or Ms. Chu immediately if any of the following apply to your shipment:

B. AIR SHIPMENTS

Dimensions of air shipments are dependent on aircraft size and freight capacity. Weight may also be a concern if your equipment will be transshipped to Kaashidhoo. The suggested dimensions per piece are 3ft.L x 3ft.W x 3ft.H and the weight should not exceed 220 pounds. Individual pieces may be consolidated into larger containers for international flights then unpacked for transit to Kaashidhoo. If a single piece of your equipment exceeds this measurement or weight, please contact Ms. Chu to make special arrangements for transport.

2. PACKING

Following are brief reminders concerning packing information.

Complete a packing list for each box. The packing list must be accurate, especially the description, serial numbers, weight, and outside dimensions of shipping boxes.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF YOUR PACKING LISTS TO MS. LASK AND MS. CHU TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED PICK UP DATE.

A packing list form can be downloaded from the bulletin "Freight Shipping (and hand-carried eqiupment)".

3. TRANSPORT OF SHIPMENTS

The following schedules assume pick up in the United States and delivery to the Operation Center on Hulule, the Republic of Maldives. Pick up dates may change slightly depending on exact location of origin, space availability, schedules of various transporters, special shipping requirements (DGs, oversize, overweight, etc.), and final destination.

NOTE: Delivery dates allow time for customs clearance in the Republic of Maldives; however, please be aware that unforeseen circumstances may occur. Delivery dates also allow for possible labor strikes at ports, trucking companies or customs offices which could affect the delivery of your goods. SHIP AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE!
