Procedure for getting a Maldivian business visa during DYNAMO.

• Provide a list of names of arriving participants IN ADVANCE by several weeks with detailed information (flight number, airline and arrival date/time).

• Provide a legible PDF image of the front pages of your passport (the page with the picture and signature).  This and the above flight information to be sent IN ADVANCE to Mr Ali Shareef at Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) <shareef AT meteorology.gov.mv>

  The information must be received at the Met Service a MINIMUM of 7 days in advance of the travelers arrival date.

• The MMS will alert airport immigration officials to your arrival and provide the passport picture and the time of your arrival.

• When you approach the Maldives Immigration Agent in the Arrivals Hall, they will ask the passenger to wait aside until the rest of the passengers are processed. They will also take your passport to confirm information but it will be returned.

• The passenger will then be escorted to baggage claim to get the bag and the bag (along with any carry-on) will be searched or put through an x-ray to check for illegal stuff. DO NOT BRING ALCOHOL or improper reading material or DVDs into the Maldives.  Bad things can happen to you if you do not pay attention to the restrictions.

• There is bank for currency exchange just as you reach the outside door of the Arrivals Hall. There are limited ATM machines at the airport and in Male town center.

• Staff from MMS (not Ali Shareef) will meet you to make sure all is going smoothly.

• You will be brought to a small office within the airport but just outside Customs and Arrivals to pay for the business visas.

• Most recent cost was $59 USD or Rf.750 MVR Maldivian rufiyaa.  CASH ONLY-- no credit cards, either currency.

• Your Maldivian business visa will be placed in the passport and then signed and dated and you can be on your way.  The visa is good for 90 days and multiple entries.
