General Description:
The objectives of CAMP Korean-Peninsula DK site as a part of KoFLUX are (1) to understand the mechanisms controlling the exchange of CO2, water vapor and energy between the atmosphere and broadleaf deciduous forest and (2) to provide ground information for validating estimates of net primary productivity, evapotranspiration, and energy absorption that are being generated by various biosphere models and sensors on the satellite.
Station Operator: Yonsei University
Vegetation and Land Use:
Dominant land cover at the measurement location: broad-leaved forest of Quercus serrata and Carpinus laxiflora (80-200 years old)
Canopy height: Less than 18-20 m.
Land cover within 50 m of site: Deciduous Broadleaf Forest.
Land cover within 500 m of site: Deciduous Broadleaf Forest and Conifer Forest
Land cover within 12 km of site: No information.
Seasonal land cover changes: LAI was on average ~ 4 during the growing season.
Major changes in land cover at site from October 2002 to December 2004: None.
Slope at the site: about 10 degree slope along the east-west direction.
Mean elevation (m) and range of elevations in 1 km pixel: No information.
Other notes: None.
Soil Type and Characterization:
Surface soil type: sandy loam or loam, with 46% sand and 8% silt in surface layer (0-0.05m)
Soil type in deeper layers: sandy loam or loam with 50% sand and 13% silt in subsurface layer.
Surface soil porosity: 0.66 (+-0.04).
Soil porosity in deeper layers: No information.
Soil infiltration rate: No information.
Bulk Dry Density: 0.86 (+-0.08) g cm-3 in the surface soil layer (0-0.05m)
