What's New for October 1996
- Online access is now available to river and rain gage data
relevant to the CASES site. Check out the new
CASES Instrumentation page
which has links to the above data.
- A radar coverage map depicting the
location of the Walnut watershed with
respect to the WSR-88Ds at Wichita, Tulsa, Topeka and Vance AFB has been
created showing the interception distances to the watershed. Data
from Wichita, Tulsa and Topeka can be accessed online from this map.
Efforts are underway to also bring Vance AFB online.
- Visit the Links page for an updated
list of related web sites.
- Progress continues at Argonne regarding the boundary layer
instrumentation.
- For the remote sensing site (RSS) at Oxford, KS, the City of
Oxford has approved the agreement and Argonne is now awaiting
approval of the FAA for installation of the 915-MHz radar wind
profiler and RASS.
- For the RSS near Whitewater, KS, negotiations still continue
with the landowner. DoE approved wording in the lease agreement
with regard to the indemnification issue, and the landowner is now
reviewing the wording.
- For both the Oxford and Whitewater RSSs, the equipement for the
RWP-RASSs and minisodars is mostly assembled at Argonne and nearly
ready for for deployment. Statements of work for the power,
telephone, and infrastructure at the two locations were in
preparation.
- For the central site near Augusta, KS, negotiations on the
lease agreement are still continuing with regard to wording on
restoring the property back to its original condition.
- Orders have been placed for the eddy correlation gear for two
surface flux stations (SFSs). Orders have also been placed for
sets of sensors for standard surface meteorological observations
at the two SFSs and for the three RSSs.
- A slight name change from Argonne Boundary Layer Facility
(ABLF) to Argonne Boundary Layer Experiments (ABLE) facility has
been effected by Argonne to more accurately represent the functions
of the facility.
