ASTER Real-Time Data Flow

Physical connections

A diagram of the physical connections sometimes used is here.

ADAM Internal Data Flow

A VxWorks/VME ADAM consists of three micro-processor boards in a VME chassis. These processors commumicate via shared memory over the VME backplane.

ADAM to Base System Data Flow

The sync process on the ADAM establishes a socket connection over the network to an ingest process on the base system. Time tagged, raw, high rate samples are sent to the ingestor over this socket.

Ingest Client Data Flow

Data clients then establish socket connections to the ingest process on the base server.

Ingest Clients

Archive

The archive process archives the raw, high rate data samples.

Covar

Covar computes reduced statistics and writes them to standard out in ASCII form or to NetCDF files via a nc_server process.
