NWR Notes ------------------------------ 2005: 05-08-25 Installed AIRCOA A. Couldn't get BreezeNet communications to reach Tundra Lab. 05-08-26 Found Ethernet communication works if Station Adapter is held head high while standing on T-van roof. Tuned AIRCOA A. 05-09-10 Increased sample flow needle valve slightly to get flows closer to 100 sccm. Increased heater control set point from 25C to 35C at ~2100 UTC. Found that Line 2 and 3 had been crossed. Switched tubing at unit so that Line 2 samples from the intermediate height and Line 3 samples from highest line (~2130 UTC). At 0.989 UT dayfrac, changed code to sample lines 3->1 instead of 1->3. 05-09-16 Temperature control has been irratic. RTD is located on cover of LI-820. Moved RTD to brass tee that contains the Humitter. 05-09-22 Tried to reduce high pressure leak rate by rebuilding micropump. No luck. Also tuned system. 05-09-29 Tried to reduce high pressure leak rate by replacing micropump. Better but still not great. Replace #3 solenoid. Replace MFM #3 with a new one to see why inlet and sample flows are different only on Line #3. Still reads about the same. 05-10-08 Site visit with new VAGI 16 dBi antennnas. Install one at T-van and communications seems to be working. 05-10-12 Moved Line #2 from top of van to top of antenna mask (5.1 m height), then switched Lines #2 and #3 inside. Reduced Line 3 flow to match the others to try to reduce dip on CO2 Shapes. 05-10-13 ~ 0.35 sample flow dropped to zero and stayed for 6 days 05-10-18 Replace Breezenet cable at T-van and remove lightning arrestor at Tundra Lab (bad connectors). Connectivity OK. Replace Nafion to try to fix high pressure leak rate. Slid pump leads back onto connector: sample flow back up 05-10-18 ~ 0.05 05-10-26 Found RTD for heater control had fallen off Humitter tee. Reinstalled with cable ties. Adjust temperature set point to 30 C (25?) NOTE: Unit was still getting date from (non-existent) Aster. Need to update code. Currently UTC = 19:01:00, AIRCOA time = 18:55:45 Replaced first Nafion to fix leaks. 05-11-20 Sample flow dropped to zero ~0.8 05-11-23 Replaced micropump. Restarted ~0.9. Replaced 3 um inlet filters with 40 um filters. 05-12-30 Prometheus failed ~0.55 ------------------------------ 2006: 06-01-12 Site visit to reset Prometheus; needs replacement 06-01-17 Replace Prometheus and restart 06-03-14 Line #3 MFM acting odd, flow jumping around 06-03-24 Site visit to investigate intermittant serial output from LI820, which started on 06-03-19. Powered LI820 off, then on again. Output improved though still some intermittant failures. LS2 pressure at 250 psig. Will wait to replace LI820 until return with new calibration cylinders. 06-03-31 USB stick filled up. No data until cleared up on 4/4. 06-04-05 Replaced LS2, LS1, HS1, HS2. Intermittant serial data still a problem. Replaced LI820 and still a problem. Replaced Prometheus, but unable to set proper IP settings. 06-04-08 Onsite at 2000 UT, configured new Prometheus, fixed leak from Li820 swap, and tuned system. Line #3 MFM reading low. Left at 21:11, all running well. At 21:21, sample MFM started intermittently reading 1V and at 21:45 started reading 0V. 06-04-27 Onsite at ~16:15 UT to repair sample MFM reading of zero. Initially replaced MFM. Still reads intermittently. Found connectors to sample MFM not making positive contact. Repaired. Leak checked inlet fittings: look good. Tune-up, adjust Line 3 purge flow down. 06-07-07 Late in the day (>0.9), reported CO2 levels drifted abruptly, flows (esp. line 2) dropped and RH jumped to ~ 100%. All subsequent data suspect. 06-07-11 Unit powered down. Cylinder valves closed. 06-07-19 Onsite @ ~ 10:00. Both Nafions have lots of liquid water; 1st mol sieve is 3/4 spent, 2nd mol sieve is 1/4 spent. Replaced both mol sieves and both Nafions. Restarted @ 11:50 MDT. Replaced Line 2 MFM. 06-09-15 Onsite @ ~ 10:00. Cleaned LI820 cell, zeroed and spanned. Replaced Line 3 MFM. 06-10-29 Memory stick filled up. Fixed and rebooted 06-11-02 06-12-02 Memory stick filled up, mistaken for a communications error. Fixed and rebooted 07-01-04. ------------------------------ 2007: 07-01-26 ASW replaced 4 cal cylinders. Forgot to reopen cylinder valves after high side leak check. High P leak check started climbing positive, peaked at +0.35 on 070202 07-01-29 LZ opened cylinder valves. 07-03-03 Memory stick filled up, replaced on 07-03-08 07-06-20 Install 900 MHz ethernet modem. Used 1 Yagi antenna at Tundralab and diagnostic LEDs suggestconnection is "excellent." Power failed during tune-up, so tune-up not completed. Check AIRCOA time vs. NOAA synced watch time: AIRCOA 7 min 01 sec slow. Resynced with NOAA ~15:11 UTC. 07-09-13 Li-820 CO2 signal failed. 07-10-05 Connected antenna at T-van to 900 MHz ethernet radio. Replaced funnel on Line 2 filter outside. Found and fixed small leak on HS1. Pressure very low. 07-10-10 Replaced Licor LI820 due to alternating max/min readings for CO2 concentration. Problem started on 07-09-13. Exchanged existing LS1 tank (JA02352) with almost empty HS1 tank (JA02380) and installed FA02340 as LS1. 07-11-02 LS1 ran out. Stopped aircoa program on 07-11-09 to conserve other gases. 07-11-16 Replaced all 4 calibration cylinders. Replaced Line 3 and LT mass flow meters. 07-12-11 Memory stick filled up. Cleared and rebooted on 07-12-18. Apparently did not reboot successfully. Kurt cycled power on 08-01-02 and system started up again. ------------------------------ 2008: 08-02-05 Kurt replaced spent LT cylinder (JJ19017) with FA02361 08-02-06 Updated to new aircoa program (ascii dates, plus aircoa_config.txt, and libparsifal-1.0.0.so) 08-02-07 to 08 sample flow and line 2 flow swapped in aircoa_config.txt - LT not flowing but program thinks it is so can't reject it 08-02-09 Fixed problem in aircoa_config.txt that had reversed sample flow and line 2 flow for 2 days 08-02-11 Kurt turned LT regulator pressure up from 0 to 3 psi 08-03-01 Sample pump died around 1 AM UTC. Stopped aircoa program on 08-03-04. 08-06-15 Replaced sample pump, NEC wouldn't connect so left with aircoa program still not running 08-06-17 Connected remotely to start aircoa program. Connections could not be established again 08-06-24 Prometheus not switching valves or running micropump. Rebooted and Prometheus repeatedly rebooted on aircoa start-up 08-07-01 Found pump wired backwards (IC board connectors are on the bottom). This was drawing down the Prometheus power and causing reboot. Replaced pump and installed original Prometheus. Tuned up. 08-08-27 Memory stick filled up. Cleared and rebooted on 08-08-28. 08-09-18 Power outage until 08-09-24 08-11-05 Memory stick filled up. Cleared and rebooted same day. 08-11-30 Memory stick filled up. Cleared and rebooted 08-12-08. Sometime while memory stick full, sample pump died. Stopped program on 08-12-10. ------------------------------ 2009: 09-01-16 Replaced micro-pump.
