AO2: Instrument has not been run for ~ 1 week. Trying to minimize exhaust into inlet system by delaying sample flow init (didn't work b/c of delays in taxi-ing) 15:40-15:50 trap was blocked (had run on previous days, or could have been QC seat) - undid, warmed, and remade - fixed and back in just before to SA 15:50 Cal int to 1, LTint to 1, WTint to 1 to force looping 4 (incl. SA) First HS rolls over 16:10 slight delay for engine checks, went to manual, WT, HS purge off, SA purge, Pump 1 off 16:15 taxi-ing, pump 1 back on, SAprgV to 2.2, back to auto control (instantly to SA), then running cal 16:21 this time on take-off roll, CO2 jumped negative (last two flights it's jumped positive, but is has been rezero'd in the meantime) CO2 Values were ~ HS ~ 330 LS ~ 412 LT ~ 407 WT ~ 382 CO2 Values for rest of flight are ~ HS ~ offscale on AEROS LS ~ 355 (-57) LT ~ 350 (-57) WT ~ 327 (-55) 16:40 calint, ltint, and wtint to 1 to force another 4-pt cal for CO2 now that it has shifted 17:11 got distracted by MEDUSA, forgot to set back to normal values, so looped twice (! need to get buttons coded) 17:27:50-17:28:30 breathed on inlet fittings (no visible effect) 17:28:50-17:29:30 breathed on filter fittings (no visible effect) 18:10 Calint to 400 to delay until climbout 18:14 changed mind, set to 1 to trigger cal now, then back to 40 as soon as HS starts purging 18:49:45 Low over Edmonton, ~ +20 ppm CO2 18:59 HS has been rolling over - changed CalPer to 3 19:00 set cal int to 400 to avoid cal'ing in same place as descent 19:08 set cal int back to 40 19:41:38 closed VNC to see if noise improves - does and signal shifts down by ~ 5 per meg (need to apply loopt corr) Slope Diff ~ 18 and Tfullloop ~ 2.7 when VNC connected reconnected ~ 20:05, disconn at 20:07:45 20:42 HS still drifting down slightly, leaving cal per as 3, bumping cal int to 50 min 20:49:45 Found cal'ing, must have acc. tripped - went to MAN and LT purge off, SA sel, SA purge off 20:50-21:00 O2 deviations, possibly motion-related 21:38:40 back to AUTO 21:05-21:35 Unintentional Speed Run - saved PNGs MED: - heater new, have not had time for leak checks - impedances are different b/w pump and valve box - NV in place to try to minimize - Pbypass climbs rapidly when in bypass, then drops instantly when to flask (on valve box it drops when in bypass, then instantly when to flask) - does Pbypass just have 1 running pressure and then a different resting pressure? - position 3 had zero flow and high Psa - likely valve closed. . . . - positions 28 and 30 had low Psa - likely bad flask connection. . . - 16:48 flushing 1, climbed past 38 kft and pressure/flow started to drop - switched to 90/670 16:50-55 opened boxes, redid 28 and 30 connections, nothing obviously wrong, 30 vented to cabin while resetting, pos 3 stopcocks were closed 16:55 to Set-Up/Preflight mode, to pos 3 for 5 min, 28 for 2 min, 30 for 2 min 17:06 to Sampling mode - switched back Plan is to sample 5, 3, and 3 flasks on each of the high legs, and 7 flasks on each of the 3 dips at the 7 nominal heights, closing 1 min. after passing target height 17:58 down to 37, back to 135/400 settings Procedure is to wait 10 min after switching to high alt / low flow settings and to wait 5 min after switching to low alt / high flow settings 18:49:45 Low over Edmonton Bypass pressure is climbing at around 5 torr/min when to flask and slower when Psa was lower (leak across upstream 3-way valve (same as HIPPO1) 19:40 Trap T = 39.9 21:34 to 90/670 21:37 Trap T = 40.3 21:11 to 135/400 Trap T 40.1 Did not close flasks 17-32 until following morning. Flask 31 and 32 accidentally vented to cabin (S.L. pressure) air the following morning. Flask 31 made a hissing sound when venting, suggesting it was not at 760 torr. All box 2 flasks (17-32) were plumbed backwards (in the diptube, out the other).
