A Study of Mountain Wave Induced Rotors in the Owens Valley, CA

NCAR/ATD is deploying two Integrated Sounding Systems ISS near Independence in the Owens Valley, California for the Desert Research Institute of Reno, Nevada. An ISS with MAPR is located 5 miles south of Independence. A mobile ISS (known as MISS) will be located at various sites across the valley around Independence. Additionally, there is a mobile radiosonde sounding system (MGAOS) sited near Fresno. The projects runs through March and April of 2004. Please also see the DRI Sierra Rotors Home Page.
