39: RADAR, Site Black Butte, Fri 07-Dec-2001 18:37:13 GMT, new cable
The SMA cable from the final to the antenna was changed out today. Profiler took data w/o any power being transmitted.
35: RADAR, Site Black Butte, Wed 05-Dec-2001 21:49:09 GMT,
Dug about 2ft of ice and snow out of the radome. We must come up with a better method of doing this for wet snow projects. The main problem was the other day when it snowed at night then rained hard during the day which turned everything to ice .
16: RADAR, Site Black Butte, Wed 28-Nov-2001 23:05:38 GMT, soap
Got the soap comunications working at approx 23z. New cables were used.
14: RADAR, Site Black Butte, Wed 28-Nov-2001 19:01:29 GMT, Profiler final amp tests
Turned profiler off at approx18:34 z . Put final amp from ISS2 on system appeared to run for 2-3 min with normal power out put on interface then went to 007. Reattached ISS3 final amp at approx 18:50 and restarted profiler Everything appears to be running fine

ANTENNA ORIENTATION:
Looking along Y38 side is 110d, ie. y+nor (38) is 20 deg (E of N)
(Corrected for magnetic dec of +17d).

MODE: For ops plan to run in 3 beams with low and high modes.

15 Nov 2UT - 19UT, 23:30UT - Nov 16 19:30UT
3 beams, south and west beams.

Clutter may be a problem at times.
There is forest all around, Black Butte mountain is about
3 km for the north east (55d E of N). There is also sometimes
heavy equipment (trucks & loader) operating 50 to 200 m to south.

TEST 5 BEAM MODE:
To test which beams have least clutter, ran in 5 beam low mode
Nov 15, 19UT - 23:30UT. Some rain and some clear-air.
Processed that period with NIMA. Clutter algorithm found:
East & West beams similar clutter (~23dB), though east has greater std.dev.
South more clutter than north (~20dB vs ~5dB)
   N & S saw a little mountain clutter (~1-2 dB) at about 3km.
South also had a little more noise & unidentified signal than north.
Decided to use west and north beams.

Nov 16, 20UT: back to 3 beams, low & high mode, north and west beams.
