The scan listing is available below the image.
The missing scan segment lies between about 0° and 8° above the ground. Right near 0° there is a single, smeared beam of data. This smeared beam is actually the first beam of the SUR scan that immediately follows the RHI scans. The 0° to 8° beams are simply missing, being lost during the transition between the two types of scans. This pattern of loss occurs frequently for other RHI volumes around the time of this image.
Other days have not been checked, but it is possible that similar data loss occurs for RHI to SUR transition on other days, or that loss may occur upon transition between other types of scans (e.g., between PPI to RHI).
There is no post-operations correction for this problem. It is assumed that the operator/scientist was aware of this problem in real-time, and possibly added an extra, unneeded, RHI to allow for this behavior, or decided that some data loss was acceptable for the case being studied. Note that this time period was one of coordinated data collection between S-Pol and X-Pol (the RHI scans were likely requested by X-Pol), but still required routine 0° SUR every 5 minutes (see Operators Log).
