This ISS distribution uses the same, single copy of the Zebra project configuration for each of the ISS sites. This master configuration is located in /iss/configs/iss. In the past, there were only a few differences between project directories, all in the is.config file. One difference was the directory path used for platform archiving, which depended upon the host name. Another difference was the cam_ingest command line, which varied according to the Campbell download file and field list in use for a particular ISS facility. Now, the path is set to the current host name when the ingest scheduler starts, and the Campbell file and field list is chosen during workstation configuration.
After an ISS distribution has been installed onto a workstation, the project configuration can be changed for the current site as usual, using the project directory /iss/configs/iss. Any changes made to the configuration will remain on the workstation and on the backup distribution made for that site. The project directory, along with most of the /iss directory tree, is under CVS revision control, and the revision information is actually carried with the distributions (in the CVS subdirectories). The changes made for a particular site can be shown either at home or even remotely via client-server CVS. The changes can be committed to a unique branch in case they might ever need to be recovered, and if ever necessary the original distribution version of a file can be restored through CVS.
