Swapping Data Disks

Note

Swapping a Jaz data disk is very similar to swapping an optical disk on previous ISS distributions. The biggest difference will be in the creation of new data disks.

Data disks should usually be swapped with the iss user logged into the usual window display, where there should be a window or icon for the Archiver program. On the Archiver window, click on the button Free Jaz Disk to eject the current Jaz data disk. The Archiver status changes to Awaiting Jaz disk.

While the Archiver awaits a disk, new data disks can be initialized with the jaz data command. See Creating Data Disks.

Once a new data disk has been inserted into the Jaz drive, the Archiver must be told to mount the new disk and being archiving again. Click the Mount Jaz disk button on the Archiver.
